Chteau La Prade lies on Bordeauxs Right Bank in Francs Ctes de Bordeaux, Bordeauxs smallest appellation. Some of Bordeauxs finest winemakers have invested in this tiny appellation, including Nicolas Thienpont, owner of Chteau La Prade.

Nicolas is winemaker of Saint-milion 1er Grand Cru Class Chteau Pavie Macquin and bought Chteau La Prade in 2000.

Why? The vineyards lie on a limestone plateau just like the most prized sites in Saint-milion. And with very similar terroir and the same Grand Cru Class winemaking, youre getting a top-tier claret for an absolute bargain price.

When we say Grand Cru Class winemaking, were talking rigorous selection in the vineyards and winery, whole-bunch fermentation, long ageing in the finest oak barrels … the works.

Even more excitingly, this has spent years ageing patiently in perfect conditions at the cellars in Bordeaux. Now beautifully mature, the 2012 is silky-smooth with notes of wild berries, herbs and leathery spice. Very limited stocks.
