“War Paint was named to mark our annual battle with Mother Nature. The war drums certainly sounded off in 2020. Just when we secured an underground source for hand sanitizer, fires broke out across wine country. Wren Hop’s crop was not spared. The good news? Our Sta. Rita site north of Santa Barbara saw no flames and produced small, thick skin Pinot Noir berries. This warrior shows spiritual aromatics of fresh cherry, earth and potpourri. Youll find a beautiful and haunting purity of red fruit here. During tasting, our staff was ready to go to war over the last pour. Look for flavors of crushed black cherry, anise, cedar and side notes of black pepper. Rally yourself for battle, youve got some corks to pull.”
