James Suckling, 94 Points
“Deep blackberry and amarena-cherry nose, then a huge mouthful for a Beaune that really makes you sit up. However, the tannins have been expertly judged and the acidity is enough to lift the palate, the tannin structure making quite a statement at the bold and bright finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.”
Wine Spectator, 90 Points
“Bright and fluid, this sleek style exudes red fruit flavors of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Firm, ending with a taut texture and shades of earth and spices. Best from 2026 through 2042. 200 cases made, 100 cases imported.”
Winemaker Notes:
“The 2020 Aux Cras perfectly translates its ideal site on the upper third of the Beaune slope oriented southeast, and with deep reddish clay subsoils. The resulting wine is deeply colored, with aromatics featuring tangy red berry fruit supported by hints of dark tea, cedar, woodsmoke and damp earth. The texture is sleek yet expansive with ripe tannins and brisk acidity. Complex yet not heavy, this wine typifies classic Beaune elegance with great length, finely detailed ripe fruit and spice notes, plus the capacity to age to great effect.”
