“The 2023 Pinot Noir Carter Vineyard opens with sweet basil and lavender, mingling with stone dust and a hint of pine resin before giving way to dried strawberries as it evolves in the glass. Cooling acidity and silken wild berry fruits infused with nuances of Earl Grey glide across the palate, while a wave of tangerine zest invigorates the senses. The finish is gently tannic and incredibly long, leaving the cheeks puckered with tension and a resonance of licorice that slowly fades. Bury the Carter deep in the cellar.”

Winemaker Notes:

“Its such an honour to be able to make wine from these old, organically farmed vines at this historic vineyard owned by Ken and Karen Wright of Ken Wright Cellars. The vines were planted on their own roots back in 1983. 2019 was my first year working with Carter.
The 2023 is a transparent, youthful, medium-deep, and luxurious red. The Carter 2023 has a rich strawberry/raspberry/red cherry nose with subtle spices, a hint of violets, and ocean-fresh minerals that are carried through the palate to a long finish with beautiful tension and power. True to old-school Eola-Amity Hills, this is a wine of great character and needs time.”
