Orlando Abrigo is a fine Piedmont estate which boasts vineyards in the top cru of Montersino. Their Mervisano 2016 is a pure Barbera, the wine aged in 500-litre French oak casks 40% new for over a year. Its a beautiful wine, singing with dark cherry, plum, bilberries and flowers and a hint of smoky wood. James Suckling gives it 91 points and calls it “A delicious, juicy red with blue fruit, spice and hints of flowers.” At ten years old its drinking sublimely now.
