Whisky has been produced at the site in Aberlour since 1826, the distillery has faced a history of flooding, fire, and bankruptcy, eventually being renamed Benrinnes and passing through several owners.

Between 1974 and 2007, Benrinnes Distillery was known for its unique partial triple distillation process, but has opted for more conventional processes in recent years. Benrinnes 15 Year Old is arich, sweet and smooth single malt whisky with meaty and old leather characteristics.

About Flora and Fauna Collection
In 1991, United Distillers, now Diageo, launched a collection featuring 22 single malt whiskies from its distilleries, and Benrinnes was one of them. Since many of its distilleries primarily produced blends, this collection offered a rare opportunity for the public to experience the original single malt spirit.

Initially, thecollection had no official name when it was first released in 1991. It was later coined by Michael Jackson, who referred to the label depictions. Today, this collection is becoming increasingly rare and is recognized as one of the most distinguished collections in the whisky world.

Tasting Notes:
Aroma:
A rich nose with chocolate liqueurs, possibly rum-filled, and a light sherry-wood note. Light smokiness and dense floral aromas, combining old leather, oil and burnt rubber. With water, it becomes fresher with polished wood and a piney note.

Palate:
Richly sweet, full, rum-like, with a centre palate impact. In spite of the sweetness, not cloying.

Finish:
Medium length, leaving a faintly sherried aftertaste.
