Besserat de Bellefon Blanc de Noirs NV Champagne cuvee is produced from100% Pinot Noir grapes. Cellarmaster, Cdric Thibault, sources the grapes exclusively from four Grand Cru villages: Ambonnay, Bouzy, Mailly-Champagne and Verzy. This cuvee is the fruit of a unique and very specific method of champagne making that has been perpetuated by Besserat de Bellefon since 1930. This consists of adding less liqueur de tirage (a mix of sugar, yeast and must) at the moment of bottling which creates a lighter, more diaphanous formation of effervescence. A distinctive feature of this Blanc de Noirs is the absence of malolactic fermentation. Aged for 6 years on lees, a minimum of six months after disgorgement. Residual sugar: 7.5g/l. Bottled at 12.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Powerful and fruit forward, with notes of strawberries and ripe prunes.
Palate: Vibrant and energetic with lovely red fruit notes of strawberries, raspberries and a hint of melon.
Finish: Refreshing minerality with an intriguing salinity and lingering notes of grapefruit.
