The 2018 Bream Creek Vineyard premium cool climate Pinot Noir has a fragrant red cherry and spice nose, supported by a refined and elegant palate of dark and red cherries, a long finish and excellent tannins. Enjoyable now, this wine may also be confidently cellared.
“Hot on the heels of reviewing the excellent 2017, here we have the 2018. Though, probably, I may have been a bit late doing the 2017. Has a couple of trophy things on it from the Cowra and Rutherglen wine shows, though I had to get my son to read it, as I could not. Shiny things blind my eyes. Cowra maybe not the most convincing of wine shows, when it comes to results, though I guess its no worse than Sydney etc. etc.
Its all spice and sweet red fruits, flowering basil and mint, some cedar oak influence. A pretty wine, not very deep in fruit, not quite raspberry cordial-like, but not so concentrated and layered. Light grip, pleasant herbal and floral character, almost like chamomile tea in a way, with a light brisk finish and a lick of tannin to close. Its not trying too hard, and doesnt feel forced into being anything more than it is; which is a nice drink, and easy to enjoy. Better with a little more bottle age, most likely.”
