Ancient bush vines high in Jumilla produce this intensity, complemented by sweet spicy oak in this moreish red.This is a big fruity red from the little-known Jumilla region, which stretches along Spains eastern coast. Akin to the desert landscapes seen in Spaghetti Westerns, Jumilla is home to some of Spains oldest Syrah and Monastrell vines, which produce small quantities of intensely flavoured grapes. Camino de Seda, meaning Silk Road, is produced by a winery just off this historic route which brought wealth and splendour to the region over 500 years ago. Its crafted by Raul Lopez, who carries on the great work of former winemaker Scottish-born winemaker Pamela Geddes. He knows exactly how to capture the freshness and fruitiness of grapes even under a hot, baking sun. Velvety smooth, this is a red to enjoy with hearty dishes and roast meats.
