Kilkerran Single Malt is produced at Glengyle Distillery. which is the sister distillery to nearby Springbank. It was founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, son ofArchibald Mitchell,founder of Springbank. But it has changed hands several times and closed in 1925.
In 2000, 75 years after Glengyle had last produced spirit, it was bought by Mitchells Glengyle Limited, headed by Mr Hedley Wright, and great-great nephew of William Mitchell, original founder of Glengyle. The first distillate of the reborn Glengyle came out of the stills in 2004.
All the whisky is matured and bottled in Campbeltown. No chill filtered and no added colouring.
Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength is bottled at 58.1% and matured for 8 years in 100% Sherry Cask.

Tasting Notes:
Aroma:
Aromatic citrus notes kick off this dram, with hints of orange peel and marmalade on the nose. A peppery, spicy note develops over time.

Palate:
Rich on the palate, with notes of barbecued meats hinting toward the peat smoke influence. There is a sweetness apparent in notes of sticky honey glaze and demerara sugar.

Finish:
The subtle touch of peat smoke continues in the finish with notes of soot and burnt embers.
