Despagne is a well-known wine producer established in Bordeaux, the northern part of the Entre-Deux-Mers, for more than 200 years. They are the passionate winegrowers huddled between2 rivers, Garonne and Dordogne. The name of Entre-Deux-Mers, comes from the influenceof the ocean which materializes by a wave : ” the Mascaret”.
Today the winery is run by Basaline Despagne and her winemaker brother, Thibault. It consists of 5 estates, around 300 hectares.
La Meute is a plot of vines perched on the top of a hill overlooking the Dordogne riverin the northern Entre Deux Mers region.It takes its name from a pack of hunting dogs living next to the plot and giving rhythm to the workin the vineyard. It has the best selections of Semillon.

Terrior:
The vineyard is planted in 2004 with 10,000 vines per hectare.
Altitude 71-80m, south west exposure.Soil of clay on limestone quarry.

Vinification:
Whole berry pressing and long fermentation in barrels with yeasts from the plot.The juices are then transferred to 225L french oak barrels where they ferment at low temperature.
They are regularly stirred until they are bottled.

Tasting notes:
The wine opens with delicate notes of white peaches, almonds with hints of lemon verbena, citronand gunflint. Long and zesty finish.

Food Pairing:
Delicious with grilled sea bass barbecued on vine shoots and chive butter sauce.
