LaherteFreres is run by Aurlien Laherte, who has been at the helm of his family estate since 2005. Laherte Frereswas founded in 1889 in the village of Chavotin the CoteauxSud D’Epernay, and over the generations the vineyard holdings have slowly grown to 10.5 hectares, always with an emphasis on allowing full terroir expression in the wines through careful farming. Aurlien farms 7 hectares biodynamically and certified organic, with the other vineyardsfarmed uncertified organic or, at minimum, sustainably. Under Aurlien’s leadership,LaherteFreres hasbegun to produce a series of single vineyard and single vintage cuvesvinified in Burgundy barrels without malolactic fermentation and bottled without fining or filtration.

TheUltraditionExtra Brut is a blend of 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir from selected parcels of vines in seven villages, in Cteaux sud d’Epernay, Cte des Blancs and Valle de la Marne. The primary fermentation takes place in a combination of foudres(20%), tank (20%) and barrel (60%) and bottled after secondary fermentation with 4.5 g/l dosage. The rich and creamypalate is balanced with bright acidity and minerality.
