A California Common for the Common Good. During WWII, Mare Island’s military and civilian workforce came together to raise almost $76 million in war bonds enough to pay for every submarine built at the shipyard. They did it with style too, rallying bond sales through the Mare Island Follies lively vaudeville meets Bob Hope USO style shows, featuring live dance bands, slapstick comics, and the occasional Hollywood star. Of course, more than a few pints were poured too. Speaking of pints, when you buy a War Bond on tap at any of our three taprooms, we donate a portion to three local non-profits. Come visit us, and raise a pint to raise some funds.
