Maison Olivier Pere et Fils has around twenty plots facing south on the sloping slopes of Trelou-sur-Marne – a typical village in the Marne Valley.
The remarkable clay-limestone subsoil allows the cultivation of the three Champagne grape varieties: pinot meunier, chardonnay and pinot noir.
Fourth generation, and members of the Federation of Independent Winegrowers of France, the Olivier brothers carefully craft fruity and harmonious champagnes.
Vinification
Pinot meunier may be the least well known of the three main Champagne grapes but its a speciality of the Valle de la Marne, east of Epernay. It forms 80% of this cuve from the Olivier familys steep south-facing slopes in the commune of Trlou-sur-Marne,
80% Pinot Meunier, 10% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir. 4 years of aging.
Tasting Notes
Light gold in colour. On the nose, raspberry pastry, red apple and candied lemon. Creamy on the palate, with small, persistent bubbles. Clean, fresh and well-balanced, with plenty of tangy red fruit, juicy apple, brioche and a touch of limestone. A full, rounded, long finish packed with ripe apples.
