The 2021 Traditonale Riesling of Pikes is a brilliant pale straw colour with green highlights. Bright expressive aromas of perfume, citrus blossom and fresh lime dominate with a talc/mineral note evident. All the hallmarks of an excellent vintage. Crisp acid driven wine, plenty of fresh lime and other citrus flavours. More delicate than recent years, the balance of palate weight, acid and barely-there sweetness creates a seamless and lengthy finish. Delicious. Limes, spices, bath salts, a hint of Turkish Delight, and throughout, appealing florals. The wine has immaculate balance and good intensity. Seriously impressive length and a nice flick of acidity to carry the wine. This has ten to twenty years ahead. Superb stuff.96 Points – Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot, September 2021\”Pikes Traditional Riesling has a great ability to mix friendliness with quality. It often seems quite open and fruit forward but it keeps its length intact, and its line. This 2021 release is a beauty; chalky and dry but ripped with citrus- driven fruit. Its not excessively intense but its above- average in that regard. Its delicious. Its elegant. And its value speaks for itself.93 Points – Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, September 2021
