Roger Voss at Wine Enthusiast says, the Chardonnay grape, planted in the soil of Burgundy, subject to Burgundian sun and rain, and nurtured by the people of this region, can still make the best white wines in the world. Two thrilling Premier Cru examples here show off the terroir of their vineyards and the talent of their producers.

Domaine Servin Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin 2023
Chablis Premier Cru AOC, France
A scintillating wine showing textbook Chablis tension, fresh apricot and floral notes and that famed mineral character. It comes from a tiny parcel of 50-year-old-vines on oyster-shell Kimmeridgian soil and a superb, 7th-generation family domaine that produces wines of great elegance, purity and length (Andrew Jefford).

Vignerons de Buxy Montagny 1er Cru 2023
Montagny Premier Cru AOC, France
From a 94-year-old cellar in southern Burgundy comes this lavish Premier Cru from Montagny, a renowned village in the Cte Chalonnaise. Intense and poised, the pure fruit unfettered by oak, it has lovely creamy, rounded peach and lemon notes with great finesse and complexity, finishing with that hallmark core of minerality.
