The Cuves name is a nod to his wife, the eldest daughter of Count Louis de Narbonne-Lara. The Count of Sobral was renowned for his innovations in agriculture and for replanting the estates original vineyards after they had been uprooted by Royal decree. Current owner, Jos Lobo de Vasconcelos, is part of this great Sobral dynasty and marks his ancestors birth with this special red finest Merlot and Cabernet grapes, traditionally pressed by foot in the stone lagares. A years ageing in French oak casks lends complexity. Dark fruits, with toasty spice notes, this red is velvety and long.
