The Tulloch family have been producing premium wines in the Hunter Valley since the 19th century. Hector Tulloch first released the Pokolbin Dry Red labels for Shiraz wines in 1952. The 1954 vintage Private Bin won two first prizes and the Best Red Wine of the Show at the 1956 Royal Sydney Wine Show, cementing its reputation as a distinguished wine.
The fruit for this vintage of this wine was once again sourced from some of the Hunters oldest and most prestigious vineyards. Medium bodied with a soft supple mouth-feel, this is a well balanced wine exhibiting the elegance and complexity synonymous with Hunter Shiraz.
