Sea2015

Guided by intuition and backed by family heritage, Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi handcrafted a wine of distinctive quality and character. Sea is the culmination of their wonderful parternship and a passionate journey. Chadwick and Mondavi searched for four long years before finding the ideal Chilean terroir in Valle de Aconcagua. There, they acquired 350 hectares of virgin hillside land.

Sea is an authentic Chilean blend made from the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties, it is well renowned as the best Chilean wine.

Country of Origin:
Chile

Type:
Red/Rouge (Still)

Grape Varieties:
55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec, 15% Carmenere, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot

Vinification:
The grapes were handpicked in the morning and transported to the winery in 12-kg boxes for a careful inspection on a double sorting table to eliminate plant matter and defective berries. The grapes were fermented in a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats.
Total maceration time ranged from 9 to 40 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Carmenere, and 6 to 8 days for the Petit Verdot, according to the development of each block vinifed. The wine was matured new barriques and Stockinger foudres for 22 months.

Tasting Notes:
(James Suckling’s rating: 100 points)
This is a very thoughtful Sea that shows unique aromas of warm earth, mushrooms and conifer, turning to dark berries and black olives. The palate is more glamorous with ultra-fine tannins that envelop your palate. Shows power and vibrancy at the end. Toned muscles. Its a very intellectual wine that harkens back to the 2015.
