Champagne RosExtra Brut
The Tarlant family traces their winegrowing history back to 1687, when Pierre Tarlant first cultivated grapevines in the Marne Valley. In 1928, Louis Adrien Tarlant produced the familys first estate-bottled champagne, and since then there have been four successive generations of Tarlants producing wine at their estate in the village of Oeuilly. Today the estate is in the hands of Benot Tarlant, who has been making wine here since 1999.
The diversity of soils in this area of the Marne Valley results in a complex signature of terroir that is strongly reflected in Tarlants wines. These are ample, full-flavored champagnes, influenced by their close proximity to the Marne River, as well as by Tarlants sophisticated use of oak for vinification.
This cuve was produced by Benot Tarlant, 12th generation of winemakers, with environmentally friendly vine cultivation. This is a very, very serious wine, comes across as quite taught and vibrant, no doubt owing to no malolactic fermentation and low dosage of 3 grams per litre.

Crushed flowers, dusty red cherries and the essence of crushed rocks are nicely layered in this energetic, vibrant Rose. With time in the glass some of the sweetness from the aging in oak emerges. The extra brut style is best enjoyed with food. This is a very, very serious wine, but it needs the right occasion.
