Founded in the 16th century and ranked Third Growth (Troisime Grand Cru Class) in 1855, Chteau La Lagune is one of the Mdocs most historic and beautiful estates. Its history dates back to 1525, when a village formed around natural water sources, later transformed into a wine estate in 1587.

Its gravelly slopes near the Garonne nurture Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, producing wines renowned for finesse, harmony, and balance.

Since 2000, Caroline Frey has led the estate with a vision of excellence and sustainability. Biodiversity projects, ecological refuges, and an agro-ecological orchard enrich the ecosystem, ensuring that each vintage reflects both tradition and vitality.

La Lagune continues to embody centuries of heritage while offering wines of elegance, purity, and enduring charm.

(Robert Parker’s rating: 90 points)
With a deep ruby/purple color, notes of new saddle leather, graphite, blackcurrants and black cherries, a supple texture, medium to full body and beautiful purity, this is an outstanding 2012 to drink over the next 20 years.

(James Suckling’s rating: 91 points)
Intense nose of blackberries with hints of cedar and spices. Tar, too. This is a full-bodied red with chewy tannins, lovely acidity and a long, fruity finish.
