An exceptional geographical situation for a top quality vineyard, located in the heart of the Right Bank close to the borders of the famous Plateau of Pomerol and not far from Saint Emilion. The La Fleur de Board vineyard combines the magic of land, vines and sky. Managed by a man of great viticultural tradition, whose family have carefully fine-tuned their viticultural thinking and savoir-faire generations, an exciting new future now awaits this vineyard.
Hubert de Board de Laforest is the co-owner of Chteau Anglus, a First Great Classified Growth of Saint Emilion, where he has managed the estate and made the wine for 20 years. He graduated as an oenologist at Bordeaux University. Together with his wife, Corinne, they work passionately towards one single aim: to make an outstanding wine at La Fleur de Board.
Appellation:
Lalande de Pomerol
Country of Origin:
Bordeaux, France
Type:
Red/Rouge (Still)
Grape Varieties:
80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon (2010)
Tasting Notes:
The wine offers up notes of black raspberry and blueberry pie intermixed with incense, lead pencil shavings and plenty of underlying floral notes. Some background oak is also present. The wine is medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, voluptuously textured, rich, long and hedonistic and satisfying. (2010)
An opaque blue/purple color is followed by aromas of blueberry jam, melted chocolate, spring flowers, graphite and subtle oak. Big, chewy and delicious, it showcases super-ripe Merlot picked late from small yields. Both elegant and powerful, this is a rich, textured, full-throttle claret. (2011)
