Made from the oldest vines growing in ground made up of large stones lying on top of clay, Le Plus de La Fleur de Board expresses the full character of the propertys old Merlot grapes which are the only variety to be used. These very old vines obviously have very low yields of 15 to 29 hectolitres per hectare.

The wine is aged for a very long time: 33 months in barrels including 18 months on fine lees. The resulting wine is smooth and elegant. It has perfect balance and lovely freshness. This lush, mouth-filling wine reveals a wide range of aromas and outstanding elegance.

– Preferment maceration at 8-10C.
– Alcoholic fermentation:
– Maceration of 4 to 6 weeks
– Vinification on french oak barrels
– Malo lactic fermentation (maturation in lees)

Ageing:
30 months, including 18 months on fine lees, in 100% new oak barrels. The wine was neither been fined or filtered.

A spectacular effort, the 2004 is amazing for both the appellation and the vintage. An inky/blue/purple color precedes an extraordinary nose of blackberry liqueur, camphor, incense, acacia flowers, and pain grille. Full-bodied, opulent, and exceptionally concentrated with a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood, this beauty should offer gorgeous drinking over the next 10-15+ years.
